Trees For Streets

Our national street tree sponsorship scheme, Trees for Streets, aims to bring trees to where they are needed most: the streets where we live! Trees for Streets is on a mission to fund the planting of more than 250,000 additional street trees nationwide over the next 10 years.

Since launching in 2021, Trees for Streets has had a busy year and are now hosting tree sponsorship schemes for 15 councils. The scheme is now available in Bedford, Bradford, Bristol, Cambridge, Coventry, and Gloucestershire, along with the London Boroughs of Barnet, Croydon, Ealing, Islington, Haringey, Harrow, Hillingdon, Merton and Tower Hamlets.

The act of sponsoring a tree is a powerful one and Trees for Streets have seen residents do so for all sorts of reasons over this last year. From wanting to green their streets and shade their homes, to people sponsoring a tree as a wedding gift or in memory of a loved one.

Groups of neighbours up and down the UK are coming together to fund enough trees to fill their entire street. In Croydon a group of residents crowdfunded trees along a polluted main road, whilst a group of councillors raised money to plant trees outside all the primary schools in their ward. Local businesses are giving back too, by sponsoring trees in their localities.

semi-mature street trees were funded nationally ahead of the 21/22 planting season and the 22/23 planting season is set to see a 3 fold increase in trees funded!

Trees play a vital role in our environment, we need more on our streets. They are key to a healthier and greener neighbourhood. I also want to encourage wildlife to the street, and my young son and I like to watch the squirrels and birds. This is a great initiative, and will make such a difference to the community
